A community activist, lawyer, organizer, and health care policy advocate, Dania Lofton is passionate about issues affecting our families and individuals of all backgrounds, including: food security, affordable housing, competitive and cutting-edge education, adolescent mental health access, public safety, environmental mitigation, and health equity.

One of Dania’s fundamental guiding principles is, “Knowledge is essential for change and growth. Civic education and engagement empowers citizens to hold themselves and their representatives accountable."  Dania has consistently sought opportunities to provide advocacy awareness, civic education and engagement, and has empowered people with the information they need to be successful - whether in their advocacy efforts or daily lives.

As the daughter of a first responder, Dania was introduced to public service at an early age, which inspired her to pursue a legal education* to help vulnerable populations. During her internship with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Dania learned about various policies in D.C. and Maryland that impacted public safety and wellbeing of citizens. The experience further inspired her to return to work on legislation and policies to protect citizens.

Her service in the County began with her activism through her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., by actively registering and mobilizing voters across the District and County.
